I need it. Like my Galant, but with more power in a smaller car, that’s 500lbs lighter.

FYI, this car originally sold for 780.000 yen (7200$) at auction... Why do I know that? I tried to buy it and lost lol... Car was good (inspected it myself) but if you’re gonna want 15+k$ for it, I’d tend to hope he’d have taken care of the peeling paint!

So after 3,000 to bring it across the Pacific, and 1000 to bring it to the east coast, they’re making about 4 grand on it. I guess that’s not totally unreasonable considering the effort, and time involved.

lol, shipping a car like this costs about 800$ anywhere in the world... Shipping cars to the East Coast is actually cheaper by a few bucks than to the west coast... Import taxes into the US is 2.5%. Auction agent fees are 500$, shipping to the port about 150$, auction fees 200$...

Huh. I don’t remember why but I was under the impression that importing a car from Japan cost about 3,000 dollars. That’s amazing that it’s cheaper to bring a car to the east coast.

Not to mention I’m fairly certain they haven’t done anything to it other than cleaning it up for the pictures... Considering how many sports cars I’ve bought at auctions that ended up having gasket problems as soon as you’d start pushing it, I’d ask for a proper test drives in the mountains before buying anything like this at such a price :)

Yeah, my guess is that routes to the west coast aren’t as busy as routes to the east coast... more traffic, more competition among shippers... The only Ro-Ro ports on the west coast are Vancouver, Tacoma and Port Hueneme... On the east coast, there are a lot more...

That’s a really good point. Thankfully I don’t have any money to buy it. And if I did I would just start throwing money at my Galant again.

I really can get over how much smaller this is than my Galant tho, dispite having basically the same drive line. The Galant isn’t a big car by any means, but the Lacer is significantly smaller.

You have a JDM VR-4? From what i know the differences between USDM and JDM Galant are massive... Americans only had it with a 4-speed auto, american engine quite a bit less powerful and many options along with suspensions, brakes...etc. I think the JDM VR4 and the Evo 1 aren’t as different as the USDM Vr4 is to the same Evo 1...

I don’t know much about the difference between JDM and USDM VR-4s but mine is Manual, with the 4G63 turbo, AWD, and 4 Wheel steering. From what I’ve read the Evo I makes about 40 more HP, than my USMD Galant even tho it uses the same engine and drivetrain.

I’d really want the RS version because the one thing I’ve wished my Galant had is an LSD rear, which the GSR didn’t have. I think it would make huge difference.
